The myths of half a century of skiing celebrated the Saslong

A few degrees less and snow would fall.
The World Cup jubilee celebrations in Val Gardena started under a knock-and-tearful rain and with the white flakes topped only on the summit of the Saslong.
To give that touch of originality the presence of two camels, almost a sign of gratitude to the animal from which they have named a series of jumps along the Saslong (“the camel’s goblins”).
The number one event of the 50th anniversary competition under the Fis brand in Val Gardena (there will be other events in the Cup of the Cup in December) has been a good involvement of the local population, many athletes of the past and new generations, somehow tied to the Saslong, the championship track that was initially snatched by a certain Karl Schranz, the most reputed Austrian who described it as a “highway”.
Scrolling through the anniversaries it turns out that the one between the Val Gardena and the great Alpine World Cup skiing was a love intended to last over the years.
In fact, the spark struck a significant day, that of Valentine’s Day in 1969.
On February 14, 48 years ago, Saslong won the Swiss Jean-Daniel Dätwyler. Why then 50 years if the first Cup is 1968? In 1967 the World Cup was started in Val Gardena and in the Ladin valley there were already some Fis A competitions organized in the Cup calendar.
Since 1972, then after the 1970s World Cup, the free fall of the Cup (since 2002 also the Supergigante) is always played in December, following Christmas.
Heart of the Saturday party was Santa Cristina where past champions and athletes gathered together with old-fashioned clothing and museum equipment. To frame, so many fans come to the event. A colorful party accompanied by the notes of various musical bands.
The parade brought the present along the Dursan Street from the Dosses-Maciaconi to the Iman Center, where a number of interesting panels had been set up that highlighted some of the most salient moments of the races in Val Gardena. At first, he could not miss the picture of pioneer Erich Demetz (he was then the longest president of the World Cup) to leave for the Fis 1967 conference in Beirut. Unpublished photos also on the 1970 World Cup panel, but above all the great interest in the parallel epic on Ronc di Ortisei between Gustav Thöni and Ingemar Stenmark, one of the most beautiful and exciting moments in the history of skiing.
To remember that event dated March 23, 1975 was the blue Helmuth Schmalzl that day was there. “The world cup was in three: Klammer, Stenmark and Gustavo. To take Klammer out of the dispute, I thought, who eliminated him after a few shifts, “recalled the former blue city who then had a past as responsible for Fis security.
Images also recalled the famous jump of Uli Spieß of December 15, 1980 that 100 kilometers from the second to the third camel’s hump jumped over 70 meters in length to a height of about 10 meters.
They could not miss the pictures of the companies “Crazy Canucks”, in particular that of Rob Boyd on 13 December 1986 and 12 of the following year. The first was remembered by Michael “Much” Mair, second only 14 cents from Canadian.
“When I was tired of winning with 39, Boyd fell and using a run that had accelerated in the meantime beat me,” reminded the ex-Pusteria. In some editions, there have been real surprises from those who came down with high numbers. On all the German Max Rauffer in 2004.
Then there was a picture of the reliefs brought to Giorgio Piantanida, a dramatic flyer on the descent of December 16, 1989.
A long parenthesis was devoted to Kristian Ghedina, present at the festivities with his red racing suit but above all with a embalmed roe deer in his hand, remembering that arrival of the 2004 descent when a roe deer went on the final schuss while passed “the Ghedo”. The Ampezzo jet on the Saslong won four times (1996, 1998, 1999 and 2001) as the Austrian Klammer.
Among them are Herbert Plank, the first and only South Tyrolean to win the free on Salsong. It was December 18, 1977 when the vipitenese left behind the Austrians Wirnsberg and Klammer. It was not present because of training in South America Werner Heel, who on December 19 won in Superg. On the stage for a greeting and a sign of recognition

The highest peak of Switzerland Dufour, de 4634 meters, in the Monte Rosa massif, on the border with Italy.

The highest mountain entirely on Swiss territory is the Dom of 4545 meters, between Zermatt and Saas Fee.

The best known is probably the top Swiss Matterhorn (Cervino, 4,478 meters), south of Zermatt.

The group consists of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in the Bernese Alps is considered one of the most fascinating mountain areas of Europe.

Zermatt

Zermatt

Zermatt is a beautiful Swiss village on Mount Rosa, at the foot of the Matterhorn . And ‘it is lying in the bottom of the Mattertal Valley and you arrive only by train; in village works only electric vehicles. And ‘one of the few ski resorts without a car.

Attention to the environment that is also seen in the approach unusual for lifts (ISO 14001) and energy in self-sufficiency of the top restaurants, given by photovoltaic and solar panel systems.

Zermatt is one with Italian Valtournenche and Breuil Cervinia in the district Matterhorn Ski Paradise, with 350 km of slopes. Very spectacular and the descent from the Klein Matterhorn extremely long (almost 3900 m) to the country through the glacier of Plateau Rosa.

The facilities are very modern, but there are still signs of the tradition like the little train from the village of Zermatt reaches 3200 meters Gornergrad between incomparable scenery, tracks, tunnels and walls of snow.

Another example of modernity is the underground funicular to the ski area Sonnegga. Upon arrival of the Klein Matterhorn cable car you can visit the Ice Palace, a series of caves dug at 15 m depth in the glacier.

luxury jewelry: Ayala Bar presents the Dune collection

Valentine’s Day is coming, but you do not need the special occasion of Valentine’s Day to enjoy a gem: today we speak of the latest proposals for Ayala Bar that presents the new Dune collection. It is luxurious jewels that tell an ethnic and chic approach together.
The Israeli-born designer Ayala Bar signing this wonderful collection that consists of necklaces, bracelets, necklaces and earrings are able to immediately give a mysterious air of the Arabian Nights to the woman wearing them.

The designer has chosen to focus on the rose as a recurring color, the same tone that has elected Pantone color of the year in the shade Rose Quartz. Everything takes so immediately looked more feminine, almost innocent, with an effective contrast to the extremely seductive allure of shapes and rich decorations.

ayala-bar-dune-00

It is, admittedly, very flashy jewelry that require a great character to be worn without letting overwhelm. At the same time, however, they manage to give an exotic touch and extremely attractive outfit even more minimalist.

Each piece is richly worked in a woven structure, overlays and bezels that use the reflections of the pearl, the facets of the crystals, gold accents, trimmings and beads that run between spirals and sinuous curves.

The most interesting pieces are undoubtedly the earrings, pendants all, often very long and flashy. Constitute the richest section and articulated in the collection. We also love the beautiful necklace that reflects the inspiration of the statement necklace and established some seasons ago but bringing it here to levels of great technical mastery.

Samsung Galaxy S7 news: water-resistant, with wireless charging

In a video in Indonesia, the Korean company may have revealed the shapes of the new smartphone release in March: will be water-resistant, with wireless charging and a completely new camera
Samsung Indonesian branch may have revealed the shapes of the new Galaxy S7. In an advertisement posted on Youtube, the archer Dellie Threesyadinda, famous at home, using a smartphone of the Korean giant to train. is not specified whether the new top model, but the title of the video – #TheNextGalaxy – does not leave much doubt, also in a section of the site, then removed, it is expressly mentioned that that phone was the new S7. The company has not confirmed but it is not impossible that this move will be part of an artfully made marketing campaign to pump up the exit of the new smartphone from Samsung in view of the presentation on Sunday at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
From the video you can guess that the design and the soft, rounded lines of the Galaxy are essentially remained the same, while it seems that there could be a return of water and dust resistance, present already sull’S5 and not proposed in the latest release output in 2015.
The other strong point of the phone will be wireless charging ultra fast, improvements in terms of safety and a completely revolutionized camera to work better in low light conditions.
According to reports gathered over the past few weeks, the S7 will have a 5.1 inch screen while the S7 Edge will have the curved screen and will be slightly larger (5.5 inches) but both will be equipped with a port for the charging that promises to be revolutionary, because half an hour would be enough to fully charge the smartphone. Another innovation should be the introduction of the scanner to the retina that could be the new way to speed the release of the phone and authorize the payments by phone for both the Play Store that, one day, for Android Pay. There are still uncertainties about the indication of a possible introduction of a 3D touch sensor like Apple, already seen on the iPhone 6S and on the possible reintroduction of the MicroSD slot and removable battery, even though they had been asked in a loud voice by users. As for the price of the device, rumors have been circulating about a possible downside to EUR 650 to do more to Apple competition: Trony was the first big chain to distribute a flyer to open the smartphone’s orders, offering it to 729 euro along with a powerbank and viewers to virtual reality.

Ischia, a romantic weekend in Sant’angelo

The best months to enjoy a weekend of total relaxation in Ischia are between late April and May, the first weeks of June, or September and October. In this period, the largest of the volcanic islands is not packed with tourists and can be admired in all its beauty and tranquility.
Sant’Angelo d’IschiaSi can get to Naples by train and then by bus from the station to the port. Or choose to arrive in the capital of Campania with the car, and leave it parked in one of the many car parks near the port of call. The most convenient is the parking Brin, 7 and EUR 20 per day. Just outside is the stop of the bus is that the taxi to reach in few minutes the boarding. Ferries, from Porta di Massa in Ischia Porto takes an hour and a half for about 50 Euros (round trip, we chose the Medmar), or is there fast hydrofoil. And depart four or five times a day. Upon arrival we are greeted by the taxi rank, which have a fixed rate depending on the location to reach established by the City. Otherwise there is a public service, as though considering that there are few main roads, very narrow and busy, then the means pass slowly, but in terms of the money you’ll save a lot.
A small village which lies at the foot of the town of Serrana Fontana. The picturesque fishing hamlet is a little gem overlooking the sea. From the characteristic square of an isthmus that connects an island where once stood a small church and where you established the cult of St. Michael, the guardian angel who gave his name to the village. On the right hand side of the village, past the parish church, you get to Cava Petrelle, where there are the famous fumaroles. Here the ground escaping steam clouds and the sea of gas bubbles, produced by the large thermal energy from the ground. With a beautiful walk in the boat, or with the coaches and then over 200 steps (rather tiring ascent), you get to Sorgeto Bay that is a typical example of the natural spas, with its hot and rejuvenating pools. In fact it contains among its rocks the characteristic of having hot water in the winter months, ideal for bathrooms in the moonlight. The thermal water gushes out of the ground at 90 degrees and then mixes with the cold currents of the sea. Ascent through the tiny streets of Sant’Angelo, accompanied by the scent of jasmine, up the granite ridge, where now there are a myriad of hotels and pensions, and the view is breathtaking. Here is nice, as well as romantic, maybe have a drink while the sun sets over the sea. While going down to the harbor, between shops offering local products from limoncello to ceramics, there are many restaurants overlooking the sea.
Like a big playground, but instead of slides and roller coasters, there are waterfalls, natural saunas and massages. The Poseidon gardens are an oasis of relaxation with flowers, roses and cactus, under the pine trees and olive trees, in the Citara bay, where a thermal spring brings up the therapeutic powers of volcanic nature. Entrance costs € 32 for the whole day, half instead 27. The price is high, but it is the place where you are. By 22 curative thermal pools (two child-only), each with its own constant temperature of 20 to 40 degrees and, given the abundance, the ‘water is constantly renewed, which is not always found in other spas. The offer is complemented by a wide private beach, sauna, underwater massage, Kneipp groups, Japanese circulatory path and several restaurants, one of which is located in a beautiful grotto of local tuff. The special climate-aesthetic-environmental conditions that are associated with Poseidon offers spa therapeutic factors and those related to the helium-marine practices, forming a true “natural curative mosaic.” Then in April, back when the heat is not hot, what’s better than to dive under a waterfall at 32 degrees?

Demented and punk, Zoolander 2 is even better than the first

It takes genius to celebrate a ‘ridiculing’ world. It takes a sense of play and irony to get into the hands of that ‘genius’. The result, increasingly cult (and cool) albeit from a trashy registry, you Zoolander 1 and 2

Ridiculously awesome. Zoolander and it was just like that: beautiful, beautiful in an absurd way.
Its the world of comedy applied models and fashion shows is based on stereotypes, film quotes, and important cameos, or on a scheme so simple that it can be more limit that opportunity but … Smash! Today even more than the first time. Also thanks to the excellent appearances.
Anticipate would be an unacceptable spoiler: the taste stays in the ‘No, do not believe it’ every time you recognize someone. Because, to play the game desecrating a movie that entertains both those who do not understand fashion, convinced that ‘massacres’ the system while we wallow in, both those who loves fashion and fashion feeds, which appreciates the spirit of self-deprecating * with which the designers participating, are the largest. Only great. Big names and big stars of pop, folk and mainstay of global culture, involved some more and some less, but all with explosive results, demonstrating that nothing is cooler than a healthy and responsible look a little ‘around.
In this, Zoolander is a large and, after all, harmless carnival, where all welcome the theme of the party, they exaggerate a bit ‘and enjoying a trashy night, grotesque, hyperbolic, absurd, insane and even a bit’ punk of which remain just great fun. Actually, no. It will remain a new sympathy for those who took part.
Ben Stiller and associates, in the role of Jester in which everything is allowed, are the lords. Gentlemen writers. There is not a bad comic timing, and there is no banal catchphrase craziness without lapses of taste. It’s not easy.
Dumb & Dumber, playing with a different pair of super idiots (played by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels), or Bruno Sacha Baron Cohen, they gathered signatures big laugh on similar grounds but did not even come close to perfect chemistry Zoolander. The point is that Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have something extra and, paradoxically, in a film that jokes about and with fashion, it is the elegance of a Magnum.

* For the series, “a laugh will bury you, haters” but also “the ironic intelligence is the most stylish accessory”

Facebook says stop arms sales

The social network blocks the sale of guns and rifles including private members. The complaints and the dangers created the change, but does not apply to specialized companies, free to advertise their arsenal.

The question remains whether it is a move only due to the change of direction indicated by the White House or a step wanted to destroy the status quo. That was not at all reassuring, because when it comes to weapons there’s no joking. If Italy is a little-known dynamic, the US exploited the most populated virtual square of the network for the sale of arms is a practice in vogue for many years. Find who offers pistols and rifles on Facebook is easy and dismissive, as much as close a deal.

Despite the first alarm launched by the US technology site Venture Beat, that more than a year ago showed how suffice fifteen minutes to take home a semi automatic, has passed under the radar, over time the spell broke even thanks to petitions Change.org by a group of mothers. Small pieces that gradually led Facebook to reflect on the issue and close the gaps. “The past two years have increased the people who use social to sell and buy goods privately, as well as we continue to test and launch new products update our policies,” explained Monica Bickert, head of the Menlo Park Product Policy.

That so bans exchanges aimed at the sale – even on Instagram, where instead of words there are the photographs to promote business – but hitting only private citizens.

The oddity of the decision is in fact the total freedom left (always) at companies, free to advertise its catalog for proliferation affairs. In the US, the country of dreams and quirks, there is indeed the Second Amendment of the Constitution to defend the rights of sellers of weapons (and that of citizens to arm themselves), immediately fired up for the stop notice from Facebook and soon placatisi before limits of the same. Beyond the official stores, the Facebook is a novelty of great impact because it closes in fact one of the most thriving markets of US weapons. Research by Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization supported by Michael Bloomberg, shows how the blue message boards have grown up to be the second largest market for the sale of the state of Nevada weapons. Beyond that, it should be remembered as the industry lobbies have enormous power often succeeding to silence prosecutors and governors. It not by chance after the latest killings (14 deaths in the attack in San Bernardino, California, in December and the 20 children killed in the Sandy Hook School in Connecticut) was Obama to change the tables. The President has supported an awareness campaign and put pressure on Congress to concretize actions always remained on paper.

Waiting to see if and how Washington will react, it is certain that even without Facebook and Instagram, those who want a weapon can succeed without even sweat too much, but for sure from now on some carnage could be prevented. To buy a gun in the store the buyer must show criminal record, pass not foreseen in the company buying and selling, so at least it closes the door on the branded eager to carry out crimes and murders.

Apple Watch, WatchOS update: 2 will be the revolution of smartwatch?

Native apps and more independence from smartphones could change everything, first of all the applications themselves

Looking at the long term, the announcement of Apple’s biggest event of the fall this year may be less than advertised: development WatchOS 2. Tomorrow will be released and the new release will be a day that could change the relationship we have had up for now with smartwatch. The new operating system from Cupertino, designed specifically for the smart watch, is designed to make the app faster and smoother, since it will run natively on Apple Watch, plus introduces new dials, the ability for third-party app to display information in the form of notifications and an innovative way to see the future events, past and more with Time Travel.

But not only, the OS also includes new communication features such as the ability to respond quickly in Mail with dictation, Smart Replies or emoji, while Digital Touch free creativity, allowing you to use more colors for their own designs.

These components may be the first step to the final explosion of a market that so far only showed great potential. Native apps will allow developers to make the most of the components of the smartwatch, with results currently unthinkable. For example, a dating app could guide us to the soul mate simply following the vibration on the wrist, or an application designed to make you lose weight might block you access to Facebook and Candy Crush, until you have done the right move daily.

Until now smartphone and smartwatch are not comparable as regards the debut: as reported on the US site Techcrunch, in the first quarter sales of mobile phones sold 334 million pieces, watches only 11. But the state of the art in recent years it has changed and the room for maneuver for wearable devices was much narrower than that of the new phones. Yet change and greater independence from the iPhone and the company could revolutionize everything, creating a new need and opening space for new apps, all new and completely rethought. Who knows if it will be the beginning of the decline of smartphones, what is certain is that the smartwatch are intended to carve out an increasingly large and if the foresight of the developers (and Apple) will be repaid, tomorrow will all feel the need to buy us a new watch.

Do not underestimate the belly is a health risk

Do not underestimate the belly is a health risk
Research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine relates abdominal fat and the risk of stroke, coronary heart disease and diabetes

“I’m not fat, I only have a little ‘belly’. If you too entrenched behind this banal justification to avoid subscribing to the gym, you know that you are taking a risk. To say it is a recent study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, which further underscores the dangers of abdominal fat. The researchers analyzed the clinical picture of more than 15,000 people, coming to the conclusion that men with swollen bellies (regardless of their weight) have double the risk of mortality than those who are generally overweight or tendency to obesity.

Among the main hazards include the possibility of stroke, coronary heart disease and diabetes. The fat that accumulates on the belly (also called visceral) can indeed penetrate deep and wrap the vital organs, causing the liver to produce cholesterol resulting in hardening of the arteries. To this Dr. Francisco Lopez-Jimenes, one of the authors of the research, we are advised to follow healthy eating and devote at least 50 minutes three days a week to physical activity.

The deposit of Uncle Scrooge will replace the fascist monument of Livorno?

The cartoonist Daniel Caluri “paints” the mausoleum of Ciano in Livorno and post on Facebook: hand a petition to make the chest of Scrooge ‘Scrooge

image

Uncle Scrooge is better than Cyan. It is a supersuccesso the idea of cartoonist Daniel Caluri – already signed the vernacular satirical and publishers Bonelli and sandwiches – to transform the fascist mausoleum at Livorno in the store where Scrooge dives blessed in abundance. The ruin of the monument erected in honor of Costanzo Ciano, fascist and father of the late Foreign Minister Galeazzo, the son of the Duce was shot in ’44 in the Republic of Salo following the process of Verona ‘s “high treason” voting confidence in Mussolini on 25 July ’43, still stands in front of the sea of Livorno, home town of Ciano. A few days ago Caluri has posted on his Facebook a correct image with computer graphics that makes it look like the famous chest in which Scrooge swimming in gold. Guest iperfavorevoli Web, online petitions rose by signatories to turn it just so and even contacts with Disney that would be interested in granting the “image rights” to paint the base cube that much resembles the safe Scrooge.

The mayor of Livorno: “Yes, there are contacts with Disney – explains Filippo Nogarin quoted by Corriere.it – the idea, the fully endorse although inevitably create some controversy. I never thought of myself as a boy to turn the monument to Cyan in Chest of Scrooge ‘Scrooge, I told the story several months ago about a Facebook group. With a few friends we took the measures, but then it all came to more than anything. ” Obviously it is excited Daniele Caluri: “The first hurdle, and perhaps insurmountable one, is to get permission from the authorities – says the fans – we can try it in different ways. For example by signing the petition. ” The monument to Cyan, according to the original plan, would have to be made up of a large base (one currently left) and a marble statue, 12 meters high, the hierarch. All it topped by a lighthouse-shaped fasces up over 50 meters. Dropped the scheme was canceled the project, but is still standing to this day stand.

Mont Ventoux, the Giant (bad?) Cyclists

Tour on two wheels in Provence, in the presence of the most iconic mountain bike there is. A pyramid 1,912 meters of limestone that rises out of nowhere, lashed by the mistral, among endless vineyards and narrow streets with a high rate of panoramic views

Provenza-in-bici-016
Here I am in front of the Mont Ventoux, in Provence, the most iconic mountain bike there is. I’m finally here, but angry: the friends of the Vaucluse who invited me to ride through forests, villages perched and brooms, had only assisted bicycles. Practically heresy cycling. A little ‘how to do the Camino de Compostela with a jeep and then be still put the stamp of pilgrim arrival in Santiago.

Here it is the obscure object of desire of bikers around the world: a pyramid limestone of 1,912 meters, a bit ‘squashed end, rising from nothing, lashed by the mistral, among endless vineyards. I watch him from below, where life is still sweet: an old farmhouse, now the inn with pool in Bedoin, the village sull’assolato south side from which the legendary narrow road in 21 km, 1,610 meters in altitude, 7 % average, reach the solitary and equally symbolic Observatoire, the military radar station on top of the Ventoux.

I watch him and reminds me that advertising Carousel saying plaintive “Gigante think about you.” It will be for the top rake and a little ‘schiacchiata, loaf of coming evil, and barren moon, more fascinating than the mountain I feel tired, burdened by his own reputation. The mountain which Petrarch wrote a letter and the wind which drove him mad Victor Hugo, is from 1951, roughly every four years, stage of the Tour de France, the eventomediatico that made him famous. Over the last fifteen years is a constant goal of pilgrimage from May to October, when the pass is open, is fought by hundreds of cyclists a day. Road bike course, but also in e-bikes and mountain bikes with smooth tires. There’s something for everyone.

The region around the sacred mountain is particularly suited to the bicycle: There are small hotels in the countryside full of books with anecdotes and vintage photos, restaurants and taverns with light fare, bike-shop (in Malaucène I found a shop in superspecialized only clothing cycling female), the mountain guides who know every bend. Provence addresses denoted by a veil. Around the Giant extends a network of roads mostly with low traffic, with stretches of dirt road stretching between Crete and red vineyards, villages and fabulous as Séguret Crillon-le-Brave, straduzze high rate as the panoramic views that Lafare, Suzette cutting, reaches Malaucène along a valley of woods and terraced vineyards, overlooking the Dentelles de Montmirail. The cornerstone of the area is Bédoin, the village bicycle par excellence where you collect the bike shop, the service outlets and cafes where natural order and consume even if you are holding technique (“dressed as Zorro,” as would a friend of mine from Puglia very esthete).

The idea, well-founded, is that once fallen into the fascination of the Ventoux, you can still visit the cellars, villages and small markets. Savour a Chateauneuf-du-Pape Clos St Michel or Vin Doux Naturel of Domaine des Escarvailles, the latter very good as an aperitif, served with pecorino cheese or with nooks of the region after a meal. You can then take two steps at Vaison La Romaine, the town that has the largest Roman site in France and a beautiful medieval city with squares, dark lavender, stone houses with interior gardens such as Belfry Hotel where is worth joining and have a drink. The stops are necessary. Yes, because with the Giant tired (or bad?) Do not mess around. You must know how to take. His “evil” is described as follows: -30 ° in winter, + 40 ° temperature that can be reached in the summer, the 313 kilometers per hour from the peaks reached Mistral on the side of the northwest and 1,548 meters the descent on the slopes north. Despicable the Ventoux is also the woods which reaches 1,100 meters and besides disappears, leaving only the shards emerge limestone, the sassifrago of Spitzberg, euphorbia and dwarf iris.

With a road bike, it takes strong legs and an hour and a half of suffering from rising. With an e-bike, aid pedaling on level 1 not to burn any battery, 2 hours. Woe then to underestimate promiscuity: despite being sacred to bikers, the road is still of all, cars, motorcycles, buses and runner. Every year they crash a dozen cyclists. And tears are.

In the end, tired or bad, the Giant have not been able to address. It was raining and the excuse was great not to risk a certain impression. There I cycled around, watching him from everywhere, after turning off the motor and the bike I did not really liked him. I’ll go back. Perhaps, without all the wine tastings and, with the ups and downs that I am facing daily, road bike, in the Valle d’Itria, in Puglia, they are perhaps more ready even my legs.

It falls on the first autumn snow on the northern coast of Alaska, the city of Barrow is tinged with white

First snow of the season on the northern coast of Alaska in the next few days the snow whiten even the north of Eastern Siberia
Despite the many difficulties the cold, gradually, begin to appear along the Arctic coasts of North America. In recent days, the first major wave of autumn chill has affected the northern coast of Alaska and the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, where the influx of very cold air from the Arctic cap, has plunged the thermometer below the threshold of + 0 ° C. Even at some stations the Canadian Arctic Archipelago were recorded the first minimum below -9 ° C -10 ° C. The arrival of the first cold Arctic was accompanied by the arrival of the first snows fall on the northern coast of Alaska, overlooking the Sea of Beaufort, now completely free of ice.

The first snow of the season has whitened the city of Barrow, last Tuesday, September 8, 2015, leaving the ground a small deposit of just 1.2 cm. The snow is falling at times mixed with rain, because of the positive temperature, but also of sustained winds from E-NE and NE who these days have swept the largest city in northern Alaska, with gusts that reached their peak 60 km / h. But these days far more abundant snowfalls have cloaked in white most of the northern coast of Alaska, leaving the first accumulations also on the northern plain, at the foot of the imposing mountains of the Brooks Range, which also impose a great “sto” to damp and cold northerly currents coming from the cold Beaufort Sea, which in this period and for much of the ice-free. The first snow showers have filed the first snow accumulations further south, the central mountains, which during the long summer were completely bare, from the high altitude.

In the areas affected by the recent snow in the coming days it will also determine the effect “Albedo” significant that will help to lower temperatures, favoring the advent of the first true frost also on the ground, especially on the inner areas. The cold wave that hit about Alaska Northern was caused by the passage of a deep depression extratropical, headed by the polar vortex, full of cold air to all units, that the Beaufort Sea has shifted to the Canadian Arctic Archipelago . This extratropical cyclone, a cold heart, filled with very cold air to all units of the troposphere, appeared along its southern edge and western intense “pressure gradient horizontal” which facilitated the activation of strong stormy winds, first from North and N-NE subsequently rotated from NE and E-NE, that the Beaufort Sea have rapidly propagated to the northern coast of Alaska. The strong winds from O-NO and NO, which blew with gusts to over the 70 km / h in the post-frontal, channeled a portion of the block of very cold air, of Arctic origin (cold air and heavily produced over the Hood ), present in the Beaufort Sea, north to Alaska and the western Canadian Arctic Archipelago, where temperatures have plummeted under the wall of the “freezing” at sea level, allowing the arrival of the first snowfalls of up to shares flat.
With the gradual shift of deep depression Arctic to the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, the storms from NE and E-NE have spread to the rest of the northern coast, from the Bay of Mackenzie, across the Canadian border. In the coming days the first snowfall of the season, on a straight flat, will continue to affect the northern coasts of Alaska and even the territories of north-eastern Siberia, especially the coasts bordering the East Siberian Seas. Everything about the isolation of a deep cyclonic circulation, cold in character, headed by the “Siberian lobe”, that the coast of Siberia, Central and Eastern Europe will move in the direction of the central sector of the Arctic Ocean, as a result of the action of ” forcing “a promontory anticyclonic dynamically expanding on southern Siberia, deepened further.

This deep depression Arctic will be fed, along its western edge, from air masses rather cold aspirated directly from the Arctic Ocean. The low pressure area, while moving towards the Arctic Ocean, will push to the plateau of Eastern Siberia very cold air will invade the northern area of eastern Siberia, leading to a sharp cooling and also facilitating the floodgates of the first snowfall weak and moderate intensity. By next weekend the extent of snow cover over Eurasia should begin to grow, embracing part of Eastern Siberia and the coasts of Central Siberia, where temperatures are falling at the turn of + 0 ° C at sea level. For many of these areas it will be the first snow fall, after the latest snowfall last spring. Soils snow will cause a massive cooling of the air layer present in the lower layers.

Alpine skiing: The blue team work between glaciers and South America

The preparation of the national alpine skiing to winter is living its crucial phase: between August and September, in fact, almost all the teams – and Italy is no exception – fly to South America or Oceania using the austral winter and therefore the ski resorts of the two continents to return to sample the snow.

There is no lack sessions on shrinking glaciers, this year put to a severe test by the violent heat of July and August which kept Freezing often above the 4500 meters: in any case, the Italian team is continuing its work which, judging by the statements of the technical, it appears very satisfactory. As reported Raceskimagazine, in fact, the new head of the technical disciplines female Gianluca Rulfi says he is “pleased for the athletic level of girls, particularly those more experienced,” noting as missing “or motivations, or the potential to do very well.” Statements in line with those made by Max Carca, responsible for the men’s team, the site Fisi, we have taken up in this article.

Specifically, the group of male giant has just returned from Argentina, while slalom Stephen Gross, Giuliano Razzoli and Patrick Thaler are working in Saas Fee: Roberto Nani has instead done preparation tailored to New Zealand, taking part also to four slalom special Australian New Zealand Cup with a third place in Perisher best result. The choice of Livigno to compete despite the fever that has gripped for several days is due to the need to lower the score FIS for starting numbers among the best rapid gates and not only among the wide doors of the giant. The men’s team speed instead to work in La Parva, Chile, after a first internship in Valle Nevado.

As for the girls, a large group of gigantiste, supergigantiste and discesiste started two days ago at a time of Ushuaia, the great location and the End of the World: here, under the orders of Alberto Ghezze and Gianluca Rulfi, will host a stage of three weeks is expected to culminate with the dispute, for some athletes, the finals of the South American Cup. The slalomiste Chiara Costazza, Irene Curtoni, Nicole Agnelli, Federica Sosio and Manuela Moelgg are instead practicing at the Stelvio Pass with technical Angelo Weiss and Luke Liore.

The World Cup will start as usual between 24 and 25 October in Soelden, where these days came the first snow of the season.

Mont Blanc, it fights on the border. Chamonix: “It ‘France’. Courmayeur: “No, it’s Italian”

Mont Blanc, is quarrel between France and Italy. Chamonix has closed access to the glacier of the Giant from Torino refuge. “They removed the warning information that we had placed after the massive influx of tourists – said the mayor of Courmayeur Fabrizia Derriard – and closed the passage. But the shelter Turin is Italy.”

Rome, September 7, 2015 – The Mont Blanc and its border: where does Italy and France where he started? The dispute is beautiful open, and the last act of the tug bears the signature of the mayor of Chamonix. Access closed from Torino refuge of the glacier du Géant. Because what they say from Chamonix, “French territory”. Different opinion in Courmayeur – united by the Mont Blanc tunnel to Chamonix own – where they have absolutely no doubts: “Up there is Italy, have no competence”.

THE BACKGROUND In recent days, two mountain guides from across the Alps, to the order of the mayor Eric Fournier, have blocked access to the glacier. Reason: security issues. “They removed the warning information that we had placed after the massive influx of tourists in recent months – said the mayor of Courmayeur Fabrizia Derriard – and closed the passage, also creating danger for climbers who now have to jump over a hurdle to set foot on the snow. ” “The shelter is in Turin Italy – thundered still Derriard – and there the French have no jurisdiction. The decision to close the passage will have legal consequences. It is true, our land registry does not match that of Chamonix. We still we rely on maps NATO transposing the Convention of 1860 and put the border on the watershed. ”

According to the French border passes under the Torino hut, which then would be in the Transalpine territory, for Italians instead is in the middle of the glacier, about 300 meters higher, and therefore it would be in Italy. Delfino Viglione, Marshal of the Guardia di Finanza of Entreves, for years dealing with the question: “The boundaries are on the watershed, from the Dome du Gouter to the summit of Mont Blanc, the Mont Maudit to the Tour Ronde, from the Flambeau with up to tip Hellbronner. At altitude there are the stones, is the ridge that forms the boundary. ”

BOUNDARIES AND REALITY The last clash between the two neighboring municipalities comes more than two months after the comment Renzi, that on June 23 he said “We have not invaded France” with the back of a giant glacial heart of Mont Blanc. The externalization of the Prime Minister came not by chance: with the difficult situation in the Mediterranean and the tensions at the border of Ventimiglia France-Italy, also the border dispute of Mont Blanc has resumed vigorously share. And there’s more: during a visit to the new reality of Rai2 Mont Blanc, run Catherine Bailiff, have not gone unnoticed the four tents pitched on the glacier of Giant. The French have taken pains to emphasize that the Valdostane Alpine Guides “Ici c’est nous, c’est la France”. “For us – he said recently the president of the mountain guides of Valle d’Aosta, Guido Azzalea – is more and more difficult to work on the French side.” History now base camp for that very future of RAI-2 will follow the official channels, from the ministry IGM up, the Institute of Military Geography. The inauguration of the new plant of the border, which on June 25 was attended by the Prime Minister Renzi, were not present nor the representatives of the cable cars Chamoniarde, nor the mayor of Chamonix. Now even close access. It will serve to restore peace a reality?

MOVED THE FRONTIER The boundaries also gave headaches last year at Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo, a few kilometers from White. “The French with a bulldozer – recalled a guide – they moved the boundary stone of 150 meters. As it is obvious that it is immediately returned to his place.” The dispute starts over 150 years ago, from 1865, when the French drew an ear on the southern side of the mountain. Decision which became law and that even without being a parliamentary Luciano Caveri in 1996 and a European assembly of three years after Nicholas Rinaldi was able to resolve. Since 2011, Google Maps also took note of: a reinvented border and towards the Dôme du Goûter, and towards Punta Helbronner.
