The myths of half a century of skiing celebrated the Saslong

A few degrees less and snow would fall.
The World Cup jubilee celebrations in Val Gardena started under a knock-and-tearful rain and with the white flakes topped only on the summit of the Saslong.
To give that touch of originality the presence of two camels, almost a sign of gratitude to the animal from which they have named a series of jumps along the Saslong (“the camel’s goblins”).
The number one event of the 50th anniversary competition under the Fis brand in Val Gardena (there will be other events in the Cup of the Cup in December) has been a good involvement of the local population, many athletes of the past and new generations, somehow tied to the Saslong, the championship track that was initially snatched by a certain Karl Schranz, the most reputed Austrian who described it as a “highway”.
Scrolling through the anniversaries it turns out that the one between the Val Gardena and the great Alpine World Cup skiing was a love intended to last over the years.
In fact, the spark struck a significant day, that of Valentine’s Day in 1969.
On February 14, 48 years ago, Saslong won the Swiss Jean-Daniel Dätwyler. Why then 50 years if the first Cup is 1968? In 1967 the World Cup was started in Val Gardena and in the Ladin valley there were already some Fis A competitions organized in the Cup calendar.
Since 1972, then after the 1970s World Cup, the free fall of the Cup (since 2002 also the Supergigante) is always played in December, following Christmas.
Heart of the Saturday party was Santa Cristina where past champions and athletes gathered together with old-fashioned clothing and museum equipment. To frame, so many fans come to the event. A colorful party accompanied by the notes of various musical bands.
The parade brought the present along the Dursan Street from the Dosses-Maciaconi to the Iman Center, where a number of interesting panels had been set up that highlighted some of the most salient moments of the races in Val Gardena. At first, he could not miss the picture of pioneer Erich Demetz (he was then the longest president of the World Cup) to leave for the Fis 1967 conference in Beirut. Unpublished photos also on the 1970 World Cup panel, but above all the great interest in the parallel epic on Ronc di Ortisei between Gustav Thöni and Ingemar Stenmark, one of the most beautiful and exciting moments in the history of skiing.
To remember that event dated March 23, 1975 was the blue Helmuth Schmalzl that day was there. “The world cup was in three: Klammer, Stenmark and Gustavo. To take Klammer out of the dispute, I thought, who eliminated him after a few shifts, “recalled the former blue city who then had a past as responsible for Fis security.
Images also recalled the famous jump of Uli Spieß of December 15, 1980 that 100 kilometers from the second to the third camel’s hump jumped over 70 meters in length to a height of about 10 meters.
They could not miss the pictures of the companies “Crazy Canucks”, in particular that of Rob Boyd on 13 December 1986 and 12 of the following year. The first was remembered by Michael “Much” Mair, second only 14 cents from Canadian.
“When I was tired of winning with 39, Boyd fell and using a run that had accelerated in the meantime beat me,” reminded the ex-Pusteria. In some editions, there have been real surprises from those who came down with high numbers. On all the German Max Rauffer in 2004.
Then there was a picture of the reliefs brought to Giorgio Piantanida, a dramatic flyer on the descent of December 16, 1989.
A long parenthesis was devoted to Kristian Ghedina, present at the festivities with his red racing suit but above all with a embalmed roe deer in his hand, remembering that arrival of the 2004 descent when a roe deer went on the final schuss while passed “the Ghedo”. The Ampezzo jet on the Saslong won four times (1996, 1998, 1999 and 2001) as the Austrian Klammer.
Among them are Herbert Plank, the first and only South Tyrolean to win the free on Salsong. It was December 18, 1977 when the vipitenese left behind the Austrians Wirnsberg and Klammer. It was not present because of training in South America Werner Heel, who on December 19 won in Superg. On the stage for a greeting and a sign of recognition

Zermatt

Zermatt is a beautiful Swiss village on Mount Rosa, at the foot of the Matterhorn . And ‘it is lying in the bottom of the Mattertal Valley and you arrive only by train; in village works only electric vehicles. And ‘one of the few ski resorts without a car.

Attention to the environment that is also seen in the approach unusual for lifts (ISO 14001) and energy in self-sufficiency of the top restaurants, given by photovoltaic and solar panel systems.

Zermatt is one with Italian Valtournenche and Breuil Cervinia in the district Matterhorn Ski Paradise, with 350 km of slopes. Very spectacular and the descent from the Klein Matterhorn extremely long (almost 3900 m) to the country through the glacier of Plateau Rosa.

The facilities are very modern, but there are still signs of the tradition like the little train from the village of Zermatt reaches 3200 meters Gornergrad between incomparable scenery, tracks, tunnels and walls of snow.

Another example of modernity is the underground funicular to the ski area Sonnegga. Upon arrival of the Klein Matterhorn cable car you can visit the Ice Palace, a series of caves dug at 15 m depth in the glacier.

luxury jewelry: Ayala Bar presents the Dune collection

Valentine’s Day is coming, but you do not need the special occasion of Valentine’s Day to enjoy a gem: today we speak of the latest proposals for Ayala Bar that presents the new Dune collection. It is luxurious jewels that tell an ethnic and chic approach together.
The Israeli-born designer Ayala Bar signing this wonderful collection that consists of necklaces, bracelets, necklaces and earrings are able to immediately give a mysterious air of the Arabian Nights to the woman wearing them.

The designer has chosen to focus on the rose as a recurring color, the same tone that has elected Pantone color of the year in the shade Rose Quartz. Everything takes so immediately looked more feminine, almost innocent, with an effective contrast to the extremely seductive allure of shapes and rich decorations.

ayala-bar-dune-00

It is, admittedly, very flashy jewelry that require a great character to be worn without letting overwhelm. At the same time, however, they manage to give an exotic touch and extremely attractive outfit even more minimalist.

Each piece is richly worked in a woven structure, overlays and bezels that use the reflections of the pearl, the facets of the crystals, gold accents, trimmings and beads that run between spirals and sinuous curves.

The most interesting pieces are undoubtedly the earrings, pendants all, often very long and flashy. Constitute the richest section and articulated in the collection. We also love the beautiful necklace that reflects the inspiration of the statement necklace and established some seasons ago but bringing it here to levels of great technical mastery.

Cavalli and Versace in the land of the ayatollahs

Opened in Tehran the first boutique of Italian high fashion in Iran after-embargo

Seductive and glamorous evening gowns, leather miniskirts perfect in every detail, over the knee boots with stiletto heels. The ladies in the chador ‘Tehran-good’ will rub their eyes and wonder if it’s all true. Yes, it’s all true. In Iran post-embargo was opened the first luxury boutiques and single-brand of Made in Italy and to sign it is the Florentine designer Roberto Cavalli. (Elisa Pinna by Ansa – Tehran)

In short, in a month, it will also open a Versace store and insignia are ready, alongside those of horses, at 1 Alef North Street, Zaferaniyeh, one of the most elegant and rich of the Iranian capital. The Cavalli shop, a two-story structure built to the smallest detail – from the colors lights marble – as indicated by the Italian brand, is crowded. The prices do not scare, although a jacket can cost several thousand Euros, or worse, in the Iranian currency, tens and tens of millions of riyals.

Iran is experiencing a slice of the population that does not have money problems and is eager to taste the ‘joie de vivre’, if only within their own homes. Thus, an Iranian entrepreneur, Medhi Firouzan, president of KelideTalaei, along with Abbas Firouzan, and a third partner, Moezeddini, has thought to ask the franchise for the Republic of the ayatollahs of fashion brands and Italian luxury, one of the most popular products and appreciated in the world. The operation started two years ago, when Iran was still under slap by the international community.
Italians, however, designers have believed in the potential of a young market, cultured, hungry for culture and, in some groups, wealthy.

Thus, the first flag planted by Italy at the end of economic sanctions in Iran was in one of its areas of excellence. The members of the Iranian project is ambitious. “We want to transform Alef Street in via Montenapoleone in Tehran,” said Mehdi Firouzan ANSA, referring to the famous Milanese luxury street. “We asked Ferragamo, Armani, to other Italian and even European designers to open their single-brand stores in Iran. What we want more of our people is the quality of life and we want to offer it. Italy can help us” , he stressed. “The high fashion can become a bridge to bring Europe to Iran and to bring a future Iran to Europe,” added Abbas Firouzan.

So far in the Islamic Republic luxury garments made in Italy you could be found occasionally in some stores, but with a reduced choice to minimum and with a high risk of purchasing counterfeit products. The opening of the Cavalli store marks the start of a new season. The desire to change step is confirmed by Hanayeh, a young man of thirty degree in chemical engineering who, fascinated by the world of fashion, she decided to work in the new Cavalli boutique. “Iran is not the dark country, closed, violent which is described in foreign newspapers. Far from it,” he says. “A week ago, when we were still closed, people flocked to the windows, curious and proud that Tehran had finally such a store.”

Samsung Galaxy S7 news: water-resistant, with wireless charging

In a video in Indonesia, the Korean company may have revealed the shapes of the new smartphone release in March: will be water-resistant, with wireless charging and a completely new camera
Samsung Indonesian branch may have revealed the shapes of the new Galaxy S7. In an advertisement posted on Youtube, the archer Dellie Threesyadinda, famous at home, using a smartphone of the Korean giant to train. is not specified whether the new top model, but the title of the video – #TheNextGalaxy – does not leave much doubt, also in a section of the site, then removed, it is expressly mentioned that that phone was the new S7. The company has not confirmed but it is not impossible that this move will be part of an artfully made marketing campaign to pump up the exit of the new smartphone from Samsung in view of the presentation on Sunday at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
From the video you can guess that the design and the soft, rounded lines of the Galaxy are essentially remained the same, while it seems that there could be a return of water and dust resistance, present already sull’S5 and not proposed in the latest release output in 2015.
The other strong point of the phone will be wireless charging ultra fast, improvements in terms of safety and a completely revolutionized camera to work better in low light conditions.
According to reports gathered over the past few weeks, the S7 will have a 5.1 inch screen while the S7 Edge will have the curved screen and will be slightly larger (5.5 inches) but both will be equipped with a port for the charging that promises to be revolutionary, because half an hour would be enough to fully charge the smartphone. Another innovation should be the introduction of the scanner to the retina that could be the new way to speed the release of the phone and authorize the payments by phone for both the Play Store that, one day, for Android Pay. There are still uncertainties about the indication of a possible introduction of a 3D touch sensor like Apple, already seen on the iPhone 6S and on the possible reintroduction of the MicroSD slot and removable battery, even though they had been asked in a loud voice by users. As for the price of the device, rumors have been circulating about a possible downside to EUR 650 to do more to Apple competition: Trony was the first big chain to distribute a flyer to open the smartphone’s orders, offering it to 729 euro along with a powerbank and viewers to virtual reality.

Just outside is the stop of the bus is that the taxi to reach in few minutes the boarding. Otherwise there is a public service, as though considering that there are few main roads, very narrow and busy, then the means pass slowly, but in terms of the money you’ll save a lot.
A small village which lies at the foot of the town of Serrana Fontana. The picturesque fishing hamlet is a little gem overlooking the sea. From the characteristic square of an isthmus that connects an island where once stood a small church and where you established the cult of St. Michael, the guardian angel who gave his name to the village. On the right hand side of the village, past the parish church, you get to Cava Petrelle, where there are the famous fumaroles. Here the ground escaping steam clouds and the sea of gas bubbles, produced by the large thermal energy from the ground. With a beautiful walk in the boat, or with the coaches and then over 200 steps (rather tiring ascent), you get to Sorgeto Bay that is a typical example of the natural spas, with its hot and rejuvenating pools. In fact it contains among its rocks the characteristic of having hot water in the winter months, ideal for bathrooms in the moonlight. The thermal water gushes out of the ground at 90 degrees and then mixes with the cold currents of the sea. Ascent through the tiny streets of Sant’Angelo, accompanied by the scent of jasmine, up the granite ridge, where now there are a myriad of hotels and pensions, and the view is breathtaking. Here is nice, as well as romantic, maybe have a drink while the sun sets over the sea. Like a big playground, but instead of slides and roller coasters, there are waterfalls, natural saunas and massages. The Poseidon gardens are an oasis of relaxation with flowers, roses and cactus, under the pine trees and olive trees, in the Citara bay, where a thermal spring brings up the therapeutic powers of volcanic nature. Le Parisien, “This time it’s war.” The same word used by Hollande and Valls, the “war” absent from Europe for 70 years resounded after the “carnage” – so many newspapers – with remarkable frequency in the day-after. Pope Bergoglio returned to reiterate its concept of “Third World War in stages” already expressed on other occasions: “This is a piece of the Third World War. There are no excuses. Alpine skiing: The blue team work between glaciers and South America

The preparation of the national alpine skiing to winter is living its crucial phase: between August and September, in fact, almost all the teams – and Italy is no exception – fly to South America or Oceania using the austral winter and therefore the ski resorts of the two continents to return to sample the snow.

There is no lack sessions on shrinking glaciers, this year put to a severe test by the violent heat of July and August which kept Freezing often above the 4500 meters: in any case, the Italian team is continuing its work which, judging by the statements of the technical, it appears very satisfactory. As reported Raceskimagazine, in fact, the new head of the technical disciplines female Gianluca Rulfi says he is “pleased for the athletic level of girls, particularly those more experienced,” noting as missing “or motivations, or the potential to do very well.” Statements in line with those made by Max Carca, responsible for the men’s team, the site Fisi, we have taken up in this article.

Specifically, the group of male giant has just returned from Argentina, while slalom Stephen Gross, Giuliano Razzoli and Patrick Thaler are working in Saas Fee: Roberto Nani has instead done preparation tailored to New Zealand, taking part also to four slalom special Australian New Zealand Cup with a third place in Perisher best result. The choice of Livigno to compete despite the fever that has gripped for several days is due to the need to lower the score FIS for starting numbers among the best rapid gates and not only among the wide doors of the giant. The men’s team speed instead to work in La Parva, Chile, after a first internship in Valle Nevado.

As for the girls, a large group of gigantiste, supergigantiste and discesiste started two days ago at a time of Ushuaia, the great location and the End of the World: here, under the orders of Alberto Ghezze and Gianluca Rulfi, will host a stage of three weeks is expected to culminate with the dispute, for some athletes, the finals of the South American Cup. The slalomiste Chiara Costazza, Irene Curtoni, Nicole Agnelli, Federica Sosio and Manuela Moelgg are instead practicing at the Stelvio Pass with technical Angelo Weiss and Luke Liore.

The World Cup will start as usual between 24 and 25 October in Soelden, where these days came the first snow of the season.

Exhibitions, Pinturicchio in Cortina

Initially it was thought that was a myth, impossible that a work so scandalous might have been made. But then, 500 years later, “The Baby Jesus of the Hands” Pinturicchio appeared out of nowhere and, thanks to the efforts of the Foundation William Jordan, he returned to be talked about. Having wooed the most important museums in the world such as the Guggenheim in New York and the Musée Maillol in Paris, it will again be accessible to the Italian public during the exhibition to be held from December 1 to January 31, 2016 at the Museum of Art Mario Rimoldi modern Cortina d’Ampezzo. The painting is the guardian of a hidden plot that has its genesis in the apartments of Pope Alexander VI (1431 – 1503), without doubt one of the most controversial in the history and commissioned the work of Pinturicchio. The woman’s face would be shown actually to Giulia Farnese, mistress and mother of a child attributed to the Pope.

Mont Blanc, it fights on the border. Chamonix: “It ‘France’. Courmayeur: “No, it’s Italian”

Mont Blanc, is quarrel between France and Italy. Chamonix has closed access to the glacier of the Giant from Torino refuge. “They removed the warning information that we had placed after the massive influx of tourists – said the mayor of Courmayeur Fabrizia Derriard – and closed the passage. But the shelter Turin is Italy.”

Rome, September 7, 2015 – The Mont Blanc and its border: where does Italy and France where he started? The dispute is beautiful open, and the last act of the tug bears the signature of the mayor of Chamonix. Access closed from Torino refuge of the glacier du Géant. Because what they say from Chamonix, “French territory”. Different opinion in Courmayeur – united by the Mont Blanc tunnel to Chamonix own – where they have absolutely no doubts: “Up there is Italy, have no competence”.

THE BACKGROUND In recent days, two mountain guides from across the Alps, to the order of the mayor Eric Fournier, have blocked access to the glacier. Reason: security issues. “They removed the warning information that we had placed after the massive influx of tourists in recent months – said the mayor of Courmayeur Fabrizia Derriard – and closed the passage, also creating danger for climbers who now have to jump over a hurdle to set foot on the snow. ” “The shelter is in Turin Italy – thundered still Derriard – and there the French have no jurisdiction. The decision to close the passage will have legal consequences. It is true, our land registry does not match that of Chamonix. We still we rely on maps NATO transposing the Convention of 1860 and put the border on the watershed. ”

According to the French border passes under the Torino hut, which then would be in the Transalpine territory, for Italians instead is in the middle of the glacier, about 300 meters higher, and therefore it would be in Italy. Delfino Viglione, Marshal of the Guardia di Finanza of Entreves, for years dealing with the question: “The boundaries are on the watershed, from the Dome du Gouter to the summit of Mont Blanc, the Mont Maudit to the Tour Ronde, from the Flambeau with up to tip Hellbronner. At altitude there are the stones, is the ridge that forms the boundary. ”

BOUNDARIES AND REALITY The last clash between the two neighboring municipalities comes more than two months after the comment Renzi, that on June 23 he said “We have not invaded France” with the back of a giant glacial heart of Mont Blanc. The externalization of the Prime Minister came not by chance: with the difficult situation in the Mediterranean and the tensions at the border of Ventimiglia France-Italy, also the border dispute of Mont Blanc has resumed vigorously share. And there’s more: during a visit to the new reality of Rai2 Mont Blanc, run Catherine Bailiff, have not gone unnoticed the four tents pitched on the glacier of Giant. The French have taken pains to emphasize that the Valdostane Alpine Guides “Ici c’est nous, c’est la France”. “For us – he said recently the president of the mountain guides of Valle d’Aosta, Guido Azzalea – is more and more difficult to work on the French side.” History now base camp for that very future of RAI-2 will follow the official channels, from the ministry IGM up, the Institute of Military Geography. The inauguration of the new plant of the border, which on June 25 was attended by the Prime Minister Renzi, were not present nor the representatives of the cable cars Chamoniarde, nor the mayor of Chamonix. Now even close access. It will serve to restore peace a reality?

MOVED THE FRONTIER The boundaries also gave headaches last year at Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo, a few kilometers from White. “The French with a bulldozer – recalled a guide – they moved the boundary stone of 150 meters. As it is obvious that it is immediately returned to his place.” The dispute starts over 150 years ago, from 1865, when the French drew an ear on the southern side of the mountain. Decision which became law and that even without being a parliamentary Luciano Caveri in 1996 and a European assembly of three years after Nicholas Rinaldi was able to resolve. Since 2011, Google Maps also took note of: a reinvented border and towards the Dôme du Goûter, and towards Punta Helbronner.

Casiraghi and Borromeo families of fairytale weddings

Formal as her sisters, Lavinia and Isabella, majestic as the grandmother of him, Grace Kelly, or fairytale like Andrea and Tatiana. To be inspired Beatrice for yes to Pierre?

Double ceremony, one in the Principality of Monaco, his house Pierre Casiraghi, one of the Borromean Islands, owned by the family of her, Beatrice Borromeo. Double, triple, quadruple feast. Result, a caravan of high society guests that will be at stake from the French Riviera to the shores of Lake Maggiore for two challenging weekend of parties and receptions from Saturday, July 25.

The marriage of Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo does speak for days. Inevitable: their families have given membership in the last 30 years, gossip, gossip columns and above all a rich sequence of fairytale weddings. In particular those of the sisters Borromeno.

But with such a legacy to those who will really inspire Pierre and Bea for their wedding? Formal style in homage to the label of the Grimaldi Palace, where civil weddings are celebrated and sober Cavagnetu (picnic in the garden in Monegasque dialect) or Renaissance splendor under the coat of arms with three balls of the Borromeo? To these we should also styled Casiraghi: Carolina has given to his children one coops life certainly high, but low profile. From the choice of them grew up in Provence, far from the Palace.

Not to upset anyone the two young men have decided to double the party.
The former model, now a journalist, nephew of Marta Marzotto is the fifth and last child of Charles Borromeo, the last patriarch of one of the most historic and important families of the north: three sisters females, Lavinia, Isabella and Matilde and a son, Carlo. Four countesses tall, blond, thin and chilly-looking that made important marriages, then the sources of inspiration and advice to Beatrice certainly not lacking even if, on closer inspection, the marriages of his sisters Borromeo they all look alike.

Lavinia (now 38 years) inaugurated the trend by marrying John Elkann, then vice president of Fiat, September 4, 2004: religious ceremony on Isola Madre, receipt in the Hanging Gardens of Isola Bella. All the world of high finance Italian was invited. Berlusconi, then prime minister, arrived by helicopter with Gianni Letta. She had a real princess dress by Valentino with veil family (ça va sant say) and tiara grandmother. The witnesses were the brothers Beatrice and Charles, father of brothers only because Lavinia, Isabella and Matilde, Carlo Borromeo had them with Marion Zota, Bea and Charles with Paola Marzotto, daughter Marta, who blondes and ethereal Borromeo they love like a real grandmother and that, like a real grandmother, she oversaw suille good choices double of all four.

Wedding photocopy, a year later, those of Isabella, the eldest, with the tankers Ugo Brachetti Peretti: ivory gown by Valentino, veil family. Only after the ceremony on Isola Bella celebrated the Rocca d’Angera (also owned by the family). And at the Rocca materializes, July 30, the receipt grandest wedding of Pierre and Beatrice: the Rock, it will be closed to the public from July 30 to August 2.

The last Borromeo to get married in white Valentino, among the stone statues on Isola Bella was Matilde, in June 2011, his wife went to Antonius Von Furstenberg, prince of the royal family of Germany. Only variant script Borromeo, the bride was very pregnant.

The only one to come out of the male choir Carlo, penultimate in succession: hippe chic ceremony in Pantelleria, in a field overlooking the sea at sunset, with seating on hay and white shawls. Bucolic his yes to socialite Marta Ferri (daughter of photographer Fabrizio and Barbara Frua de Angeli) in July 2012.

For the Italian part of the festivities is to be expected therefore that the script somehow happen again equal to the sisters, given the choice of celebrating the rite on the lake, but perhaps Isolino di San Giovanni, more secluded location than the majestic Island Beautiful.

weddings-grimaldi Certainly, the part of Monaco’s wedding will be the most simple: everything except the evening party at Jimmy’z, will take place in the Palace closed, as was the case for the parents of Pierre, Carolina and Stefano Casiraghi and Andrea and Tatiana Santo Domingo. One can be sure, perhaps, the marriage to which that of Pierre and Bea will resemble less, at least as atmosphere, to Uncle Albert Charlene Wittstock: cast too, too many royal families invited, bride too rigid.

Beatrice, you know, is quite another kind. Maybe more like the sister Tatiana Santo Domingo, that the yes with Andrea Casiraghi is presented in civil saldali thong Palace. And then he wanted a second episode, religious, indeed, enchanted, under the snow in Gstaad, hooded in a Valentino dress, in cascades of flowers and crystals. Chic, but not easy.

Even Pierre, despite being the son of a Grimaldi, during his childhood he spent much time in the countryside of Provence rather than the Rocher. He and the Borromeo, basically mean part of the jet set, but with the royal families have little to disappear. And then it was not just Beatrice to have declared in an interview: “The aristocracy is just crap anachronistic”?

The first ascent of Mont Blanc, an August 8

229 years ago: The expedition was organized by a famous scientist, but to reach the summit for the first time were a doctor and a crystal-digger.
The first ascent of Mont Blanc took place 229 years ago, on Aug. 8, 1786: the first to arrive at the top were the crystal hunter Jacques Balmat and the doctor Michel Gabriel Paccard, to 18.23, and remained there for just under forty minutes, during which it carried the scientific measurements. With its 4810 meters, the Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and Europe except the Caucasus, The expedition was organized by the famous scientist Horace-Benedict de Saussure, who according to some reconstructions had even promised a reward to anyone who would go up first of Mont Blanc. De Saussure was mainly specialized in the study of glaciers, and for this many years studying the Mont Blanc massif, planning to make the measurements for yourself.

Paccard had graduated in Turin and had already attempted the climb in 1783. Balmat instead was an expert of the mountains around Chamonix, and it was with great athleticism. They decided to organize an expedition together for convenience, although did not go over well: the idea of Paccard was not to go the traditional route with which it had been attempted the ascent earlier that the Grands Mullets, but to divert first to reach the Dôme du Goûter, through the Grand Plateau, under the north face of Mont Blanc. They risked to go back, because the daughter was ill and the Balmat crystal hunter wanted to go back (he died later that day). After reaching the summit and made the measurements, Balmat and Paccard began the descent: it got dark quickly, but the two had chosen a full moon night, and were able to camp out.
The date of the first ascent of Mont Blanc coincides with the birth of mountaineering that day began the so-called “phase of conquest” of mountaineering, where one by one were climbing all the mountains of the Alps over four thousand meters high. When in 1865 Edward Whymper reached the last major peak, the Matterhorn, the nature of mountaineering was changed: if in the beginning the reasons for the climb were mostly scientific, soon he asserted the idea of mountaineering as a sporting gesture. Today in the center of Chamonix a statue of Balmat showing the Mont Blanc de Saussure remembers the first ascent.
