Skiing, SuperG in Cortina: Gut is celebrating, Schnarf second!

Goggia falls, Vonn sixth
The Swiss returned to winning after a year, beating the blue (second podium career) and the Austrian Schmidhofer. Brignone out for flu. Sofia also falls on Sundays. Vonn far away from the wind, the Shiffrin in error

Strong emotions in the Super-G in Cortina, which closed the three days in Ampezzo. Back to the win – the number 24 in career – after a year (just in Cortina, even if downhill) the Swiss actress Lara Gut, good at managing a difficult test, in which he was asked to push a lot to the start, lowered to jump Duca d’Aosta for the very strong wind at the top of the track. But behind the Gut on the podium there is an exceptional Johanna Schnarf, playing with the bib number 1 and the second with a delay of 14/100, with the blue that wins the second podium in career after the descent of Crans Montana in 2009. Third is the Austrian Nicole Schmidhofer at 27/100. A test conditioned by the continuous variations of time and by gusts of wind. The wind, in particular, made a heavy joke to Lindsey Vonn, who soon lost the hopes of winning his 80th Cup win: the gusts prevented the American from having an adequate view in the central part of his try, with clouds of snow that have been thrown on. And the other American, Mikaela Shiffrin, who lost the line and left the scene in the central part of the track, on a big corner that cost a lot of different athletes, is also out of the game. Fourth the Austrian Anna Veith to 31/100, then the Liechtenstein skier, Tina Weirather to 33/100. Then, in fact, the Vonn, only sixth to 37/100. Fear of the ugly fall of the 19 year old Austrian Nadine Fest, ended in the nets after a series of terrible twists of both legs and transported to the hospital after a long break by Super G.

Federica Brignone, influenced, did not leave, but preferred to give up to prepare herself for the Plan de Corones giant on Tuesday. And also on Sunday we witnessed the fall of Sofia Goggia. The Bergamo has resoundingly risked falling to the starting gate with a stumble. A mistake that infuriated the blue, at that point launched on the track, and fatally in error to recover, until the fall. So the best of the other blue was Marta Bassino, twentieth to 1 “66 from the Gut. Many risks taken by Nadia Fanchini, who paid heavily a crossover halfway through the race and arrived at the finish line among a thousand difficulties with a delay of 2” 50 . Among the many girls out of the scene, also the blue Nicol Delago, Laura Pirovano and Anna Hofer. The weather conditions eventually became too perilous. And so the Super-G was stopped due to lack of visibility and wind: Federica Sosio and Verena Stuffer did not leave.
