Locked in the dark beneath the summit of Gran Paradiso, the Air Zermatt helicopter intervenes

They were blocked just under the summit of Gran Paradiso, at 3900 m, a pair of Lithuanian mountaineers due to a burst of stones that struck one of them, unable to move on or off.

The call for relief arrived at 18.30, however, when the darkness had already dropped, making it impossible to take off the Civil Protection helicopter, but not to Air Zermatt, who was enabled on a night flight.

He landed at 22.00 at Aosta airport, loaded a trainer on the Aosta Valley valley and then went to the rescue of the two mountaineers who were retrieved and taken to hospital for investigation.

The two were perfectly equipped for ascension.
